Casting Mold Fluxes and InsulatorsMold Fluxes are synthetic slags that are used in the continous casting process. These fluxes come in either powdered or granulated form. Mold Fluxes are mixtures of complex raw minerals, ceramic based oxides, pre-reacted components, and carbon. There are 5 main functions for using mold fluxes, they are:
- To thermally insulate the molten metal in the mold, thus minimizing heat loss so to control and modify heat removal that affects the solidification rate of the cast section.
- To generate liquid slag to protect the molten metal from reacting with atmospheric gases.
- To remove/absorb solid inclusions/non-metallics that cause defects in the molten metal before producing a cast section.
- To provide lubrication between the solidifying shell and the mold wall to prevent sticking.
- To acheive compatibility with the tundish refractories so that the refractories last longer.

We design the the delta using AutoCad, build the mold to your specifications, recommend what type of raw materials to use, and finally make the finished product.
